Associated Societies

Find out more about becoming an Associated Society

TThe Geological Society collaborates with a diverse network of Associated Societies, bringing together organisations from across the geoscience community. These partnerships foster knowledge exchange, professional development and greater engagement within the Earth sciences

Associated Society Status provides a vehicle for working with other learned societies and professional bodies on activities across a wide range of areas, including;

  • Organising scientific meetings/conferences
  • Developing professionalism through activities such as accreditation of courses and training programmes, professional validation, mutual recognition of qualifications and professional status, adopting common codes of conduct, etc.
  • Policy and outreach
  • International leadership
  • Capacity building
  • Provision of impartial and authoritative advice or information

If you feel that your organisation's aims and missions are consistent with those of the Geological Society (the advancement of the geosciences) and are interested in becoming an Associated Society, we invite you to informally contact our Director of Science & Engagement, Natasha Stephen to discuss further.

For further information about Associated Society Status please contact our External Relations Officer, George Jameson.

Currently the Society has links with sixteen other Societies.
