Journal of the Geological Society (JGS) is owned and published by the Geological Society.
JGS publishes topical, innovative and interdisciplinary research with global reach across the full range of Earth and planetary sciences. Regional geological studies of interest to our international readership are also welcomed.
Each year JGS presents the ‘JGS Early Career Award' for papers published in the journal, which rewards the writing of well-written, exciting papers from early career geologists.
The journal publishes research and invited review articles, discussion papers and thematic collections.
JGS Editor-in-Chief
The Editor-in-Chief Yildirim Dilek (Miami University, USA) is supported by Deputy Editors Anna Bird (University of Hull, UK), Lorenzo Fedele (Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II, Italy), Andrea Festa (University of Turin, Italy), Matías Ghiglione (Buenos Aires University, Argentina), and an international Editorial Board.
Quarterly Journal of Engineering Geology and Hydrogeology (QJEGH) is owned by the Geological Society Society of London and published by the Geological Society.
Quarterly Journal of Engineering Geology and Hydrogeology (QJEGH) was established in 1967 to foster engineering geology research and practice. International in scope, its focus is on geology as applied to civil and environmental engineering and groundwater resource management. QJEGH publishes high-quality, authoritative, peer reviewed, international papers, addressing sustainability, climate change, energy transition, geohazards and geo-resilience, to inform academic and industry practitioners in engineering geology and hydrogeology.
The William Dearman Early Career Award is annually presented for the best QJEGH paper from an author in the early stages of their career.
Editor-in-Chief & Assistant Editors
The Editor-in-Chief, Prof Cherith Moses (Edge Hill University, UK) is supported by four Assistant Editors from the following sub disciplines: engineering geology, geomaterials, geotechnical, hydrogeology, along with an international editorial board

Launched in 2021 the Journal previously utilised services provided by Frontiers Media.
ES3 is dedicated to the open access publication of timely and topical research of high importance across the breadth of the geosciences.
The journal has a special focus on cross-disciplinary research that showcases the relevance of geoscience to sustainability in society.

Geoenergy is a co-owned journal of the Geological Society and the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE), launched in January 2023.
Continuing the mission of its sister journal, Petroleum Geoscience, Geoenergy focuses on the publication of timely and topical research in subsurface geoscience, critical for this new era of sustainable energy.
Editor-in-Chief
Sebastian Geiger, Delft University of Technology, Netherlands

Petroleum Geoscience transcends disciplinary boundaries and publishes a balanced mix of articles that drives the science to enhance sustainable development covering all aspects of the petroleum system. The journal content reflects the international nature of the research.
PG’s sister journal, Geoenergy, welcomes submissions on subsurface geoscience and the emerging energy transition field.

View content in the Lyell CollectionThe Scottish Journal of Geology is the joint publication of the Geological Society of Glasgow and the Edinburgh Geological Society, which prior to 1965 published separate Transactions: from 1860 in the case of Glasgow and 1863 for Edinburgh.
Traditionally, the Journal has acted as the focus for papers on all aspects of Scottish geology and its contiguous areas, including the surrounding seas. The publication policy has always been outward looking, with the Editors encouraging review papers and papers on broader aspects of the earth sciences that cannot be discussed solely in terms of Scottish geology.
The diverse geology of Scotland continues to provide an important natural laboratory for the study of earth sciences; many seminal studies in geology have been carried out on Scottish rocks, and over the years the results of much of this work had been published in the Journal and its predecessors.
The Journal fully deserves its high reputation worldwide and intends to maintain its status in the front rank of publications in the Earth sciences.

View content in the Lyell CollectionThe Proceedings of the Yorkshire Geological Society (PYGS) has been published without a break since 1839. It is one of the leading journals of British geology, publishing original research papers on all aspects of geology.
Traditionally the Proceedings concentrated on the geology of northern England and its neighbouring areas, however submission of papers on related topics of a more general interest is encouraged. All papers are subjected to the full scrutiny of two independent referees.

SP content on the Lyell CollectionGeoHorizons is a new open science book series published jointly by the American Geophysical Union and the Geological Society. The series focus is on solution-based science that addresses the many challenges facing humanity and the environment, especially those related to climate change and sustainable development.
The series is committed to the principles of open science.
The Energy Geoscience Conference series succeeds the former Petroleum Geology Conference series and comprises a sequence of edited and peer-reviewed volumes arising from the conferences. Oriented towards energy transition, volumes will explore understanding, technologies, lessons learned and subsurface insights across the full sphere of energy geoscience.
EGC on the Lyell CollectionThis successful and popular series is devoted to engineering geology and geotechnical topics. The volumes are highly regarded internationally with editors and authors from all areas of the world contributing expertise in a broad range of topics related to engineering geology. The first volume was published in 1985 and the series now includes over 27 volumes.
Volumes are available online in the Lyell Collection or as printed books from the Geological Society online bookshop.
Access to Engineering Geology Special Publications is also available as part of the Engineering Geology Package annual subscription (with the Quarterly Journal of Engineering Geology & Hydrogeology).
EGSPs on the Lyell CollectionMemoirs are definitive treatments of key subject areas by acknowledged experts in their field. Ranging in format from edited collections of papers to volumes written by a single author or group of authors Memoirs are authoritative and widely respected.
This series was first launched in 1958 and now includes over 60 volumes covering topics including but not limited to the Oman mountains, the Antarctic, Myanmar, the Arabian Peninsular and the UK oil and gas fields.
Memoirs on the Lyell CollectionThe Petroleum Geology Conference series is a sequence of edited and peer-reviewed volumes arising from the prestigious London-hosted conferences.
