Fellows and Student members are provided with login details (email address and password) with which they may access restricted sections of the Society’s website.

A separate login to the Lyell Collection site is provided for access to selected online content.

Login details are provided solely for the personal use of Fellows and Student members (i.e. to assist in their own learning, research or work). Login details may not be shared with, or provided to, any other person for any purpose, nor may material accessed or downloaded by any member be shared with, or provided to, any other person.

Fellows and Student members are permitted to make reasonable use of electronic content hosted on the Lyell Collection. The Lyell Collection site host actively monitors usage and the Society will contact members whose download rates appear excessive. If excessive downloads continue the Society reserves the right to re-set login details or, in extreme cases, bar access to electronic services altogether.

From 2021 all journal subscriptions derived as a benefit of Society membership are online.

Fellows and Student members who wish to retain a copy of record of their journal(s) of choice should download and save the PDF or EPUB of relevant journal articles for safe keeping.
It is the Geological Society’s intention that users have access to the widest possible range of content and that this content can be shared to enable the most effective research, study, teaching and practice of the Earth sciences. However, it is important that users recognise the substantial investment made by the Geological Society in protecting and enhancing the quality of the content it publishes. It is necessary, therefore, to impose conditions on the use of material available within the Lyell Collection.

Please ensure that the delivery details you provide us with are correct and complete. Orders where Parcelforce or DHL are selected as the shipping method must have a street address (no PO Boxes are accepted). The delivery address cannot be changed after the order is completed.
You can access and update your personal information in the My GSL area of the website by logging in with your email address and password.
When you place an order at www.geolsoc.org.uk, we will send you an email confirming receipt of your order including the order details. Your order is accepted by us when we send email confirmation to you that we have dispatched the products. Please quote the order reference in the email if you contact us.
Please note that dispatch estimates are not guaranteed, and dispatch times should not be relied upon. As we process your order, we will inform you by email if any products you order are unavailable for dispatch.
You may cancel the contract under the Consumer Contracts Regulations by notifying us by email no later than 14 days after you receive the goods that you are cancelling the contract. If you cancel the contract under the Consumer Contracts Regulations, you must return the goods to us (to the Publishing House address on the delivery note) at your own expense and ensure that the goods are returned in re-saleable condition. If the goods are not received in re-saleable condition, we can refuse to refund you for the goods returned.
When ordering goods for delivery overseas the recipient may be subject to import duties and taxes. Any additional charges for customs clearance must be paid by you; we have no control over these charges. Customs policies vary widely from country to country, so you should contact your local customs office for further information.
You should notify us as soon as possible by email if you discover that any goods received are faulty or damaged. Please include the order reference, receipt number, product code(s) and provide photos of the damage and the packaging.
We may change these terms and conditions at any time. Any changes will apply to any orders that you place after the time that we update the terms and conditions on our website. The changes will not apply to any order that you place before we make the changes on our website.
