Examples in the photos below are from the locations on map (above right). Above left shows the process of rounding and sorting of deposits in rivers.
1.
Upland streams form narrow V-shaped valleys. The river erodes downward. The river bed has large angular grains in transport.

Lowland rivers meander in wide floodplains. Erosion on outside of bends is balanced by deposition on inside. Sediment mainly sand & mud.

Mature streams form broader, more gentle valleys. Sediment grains get smaller and smoother.
4.
As a river enters the sea it deposits most of its sediment forming tidal sand and mud-flats. Rivers may split into many channels (photo).
